Blogger for Word Toolbar

Blogger for Word (BFW) is a toolbar that installs right into Microsoft Word and allows you to create, publish and edit blog posts right from, you guessed it, MS Word. For its size and unobtrusiveness, it’s a decent program; I’m posting with it right now. It lacks, however, the ability to post pictures. Also, I gather links to reference my sources using a tabbed browser, so the whole experience isn’t exactly “browser-less” – something I’d like to aspire to someday (maybe not). But hey it’s free, clean-looking, lightweight (my buzzword du jour), and you can compose your thoughts offline for one-click publishing later.

UPDATE: Word’s Spell Checker is way better than Blogger’s (

Stuart, I read about this the other day, but I don't understand the advantage. Besides the spellcheck, what are you gaining by publishing through Word (sincere question)?

ps, I stumbled onto your blog from a post you left on a friend's. I work in Carrollton.

I jot down most of my thoughts, tasks updates, and unfinished short stories in Word. For me it's just nice to hit Ctrl-N when a blogworthy idea grabs me. Then later I can review, fine-tune and publish. I'm probably in the 0.001% of people who find it handy :)

Thanks for reading and hopefully we can hook-up since you're local!

That's certainly simpler--I fumble to blogger and add onto a running draft I never publish (often with my 7-year-old anxiously searching for anything attributed to her!). I've only been at this since June, but it's pretty therapeutic!
